Netflix price increase 2026: which countries just got more expensive
We track Netflix's own help pages. Here are the plans and countries where prices rose since July 2026, and by how much.
Netflix raised prices in 2 of the 11 countries we track between July 3, 2026 and October 13, 2026: Germany and the United Kingdom. 6 plans went up in total. The steepest increase was Germany’s Standard with ads plan, from €4.99 to €6.99 a month (+40%). In the other 9 countries, every plan kept exactly the same local price. Below is each plan, before and after, in local currency, which is the only fair way to spot a real price change.
Every Netflix plan that went up
| Country | Plan | Before | Now | Change | Extra per year |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 🇩🇪 Germany | Standard with ads | €4.99 | €6.99 | +40% | €24 |
| 🇬🇧 United Kingdom | Standard with ads | £5.99 | £7.99 | +33% | £24 |
| 🇩🇪 Germany | Standard | €13.99 | €15.99 | +14% | €24 |
| 🇬🇧 United Kingdom | Premium | £18.99 | £20.99 | +11% | £24 |
| 🇩🇪 Germany | Premium | €19.99 | €21.99 | +10% | €24 |
| 🇬🇧 United Kingdom | Standard | £12.99 | £13.99 | +7.7% | £12 |
Germany. All 3 plans went up. The biggest percentage rise was on Standard with ads (+40%, now €6.99). Premium rose 10% to €21.99, $24.57 at today's exchange rate. See how that compares with the rest of daily costs on our Germany page.
The United Kingdom. All 3 plans went up. The biggest percentage rise was on Standard with ads (+33%, now £7.99). Premium rose 11% to £20.99, $27.74 at today's exchange rate. See how that compares with the rest of daily costs on our United Kingdom page.
The cheapest plans took the biggest percentage hit
In each of the 2 countries that raised prices, the steepest percentage rise landed on the cheapest plan. That is easy to miss because the cash amounts look small. Going from €4.99 to €6.99 adds €24 a year, but in percentage terms it is the largest increase in our data, against +7.7% for the smallest rise (the United Kingdom, Standard).
In Germany, the step from Standard with ads to Standard was €9 a month in July and is €9 now. The gap between the two is unchanged.
In the United Kingdom, the step from Standard with ads to Standard was £7 a month in July and is £6 now. Upgrading to Standard has become relatively cheaper.
Entry-level and ad-supported tiers are where streaming services compete for price-sensitive subscribers, so a rise there narrows the gap to the ad-free plans above. If you are on an ad-supported plan in an affected country, compare the new price with the next tier up before assuming the cheapest option is still the best value.
Where the increases leave these countries globally
Local prices are the right way to measure an increase, but dollars are the right way to compare countries. Ranked by the US-dollar price of Premium across all 11 countries we track (1 = most expensive):
- United Kingdom: now the most expensive at $27.74, up from 2nd in July ($25.33), or 0.6% of a month's average income.
- Germany: now the 3rd most expensive at $24.57, up from 4th in July ($22.84), or 0.5% of a month's average income.
Part of any dollar move comes from the exchange rate rather than Netflix, which is why the dollar change can be larger or smaller than the local-currency increase in the table above. The country with the most expensive Premium plan overall is now the United Kingdom, at $27.74 a month.
Where Netflix prices did not change
The United States, the United Arab Emirates, India, Japan, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Canada, Australia and Thailand: no plan changed price in local currency between July 3, 2026 and October 13, 2026. No plan anywhere got cheaper.
Be careful with dollar-converted price lists. A plan can look more or less expensive in dollars without Netflix touching it. Japan’s Premium plan stayed at ¥2,290, yet in dollars it went from $14.19 to $14.44 (+1.8%) purely because the exchange rate moved. That is why this page compares local prices.
For context, Spotify Premium Individual held its price in all 9 countries we track over the same period; see the Spotify price tracker.
How we track Netflix prices
Prices come from Netflix’s own help pages, which list the plans and monthly prices for each country. We store a snapshot every time the site refreshes; this comparison uses our earliest snapshot (July 3, 2026) and the latest (October 13, 2026). Prices include whatever sales tax or VAT Netflix shows for that country, and the US prices are shown before state sales tax. We cover 11 countries; Hong Kong is not included. Existing members usually hear about an increase by email before it reaches their bill, so the date you pay more can lag the date the new price appears on the help page.
Every current plan, in local currency and US dollars, is on our Netflix price page. To see where the service is cheapest after the increases, read the cheapest Netflix country; for how streaming prices compare with local wages, see where streaming is cheapest.
